CD Review--The Courteneers/ Here Come The Young Men

Here Come The Young Men（ヒア・カム・ザ・ヤング・メン）

2007年期待のバンドの一つとして頭角を現した The
Courteneers。フルアルバムの発表が今か今かと待ち望まれる中、ストレートなUKギター・ロック・ファンが泣いて喜ぶ日本独自企画盤が発売。7曲入りミニアルバムだが、さすがトップを突っ走り始めたUKロック・バンド、まるでファンの所望全てを知っているかのように、全てがそこに詰まっている。テンポよく弾む、踊りだしたくなるようなビートルズ風サウンドから、洗練されたアコースティック・サウンドまで、デビュー・アルバムの稀に見る出来を予言する。ビートルズやザ・スミスのクラシック・テイスト、そしてザ・リバティーンズを思わせるギター・リフと、とても親しみが持てるサウンドの中にキラリと独自性が光る。このミニアルバム、だてに前評判がいいわけじゃない。期待以上だ。フルアルバムの方も同様に最高の出来になること間違えない。

For fans of straight up English guitar rock comes the debut from one
of the most expected bands of 2007, The Courteneers. Though only a
mini album, the seven songs pack in everything that you expect from a
top notch UK rock band. From bouncy, fast paced and dance friendly
Beatles influenced sounds to more sophisticated acoustic sounds, this
album shows a rare depth for a debut album. Drawing from classic
legends such as The Beatles and The Smiths and flexing(shows)
Libertines-like guitar riffs, The Courteneers have created a familiar
sound that is unique enough that they can feel proud to call their
own. This mini album has lived up to the hype and then some. Methinks
the full album will be more of the same.
