I. 80年代のあこがれの的、ニュー・キッズ・オン・ザ・ブロック（the New Kids on the Block）。通の人々には ”NKOTB” として親しまれる彼らが、今年9月に7日間に及ぶ北米（アメリカ/カナダ）ツアーを行うことを発表した。マジで。おもろい冗談なんかじゃなくて本当の話。現在のところ、幸いにも来日ツアーの話は浮上していない・・・
II. ここでもっとパッとしたツアー情報をご紹介。この6〜7月に東京でのギグが予定されている来日勢 David Potts, Maybeshewill そして Dreamboy。どれも日本の音楽ファンを裏切らない、期待に値するメンツ。この3アーティストの来日ライブ情報の詳細は www.ontheone.jp でチェック。
III. レディオヘッド（Radiohead）に追随してか、ナイン・インチ・ネイルズ（Nine Inch Nails）が今夏発売予定の新作CD “The Slip” の発売前に、彼らのオフィシャルサイト www.nin.com で楽曲の無料ダウンロードサービスをするという、ファンならずとも感涙のニュースを発表した。マルチトラック音源もダウンロードできるようなので、オリジナルremix をつくるなんて事も可能。さらに、作ったオリジナル remix トラックをシェアできるサイト www.remix.nin.com なんてのも登場。
IV. さらに、ここ最近のダウンロード・ブームの波にのり、コールドプレイ（Coldplay）の新曲 “Violet Hill” のオフィシャルサイト上でのダウンロード数が先週、なんと200万件を突破。次のステップは、なんと新曲 “A Spell a Rebel Yell” を米国音専誌NME（今週号）の付録として、独占発表。聴かずにいられない人はNMEをゲット。
V. あのポール・マッカートニー卿ですら、アルバム無料配布祭りの虜になったらしい。昨年発表した最新作 “Memory Almost Full” が、なんと英国で5/18付けの新聞の付録として配布される。
VI. デジャヴ・・・エイミー・ワインハウス（Amy Winehouse）が再び逮捕された。１月に撮影されたビデオの中で彼女がコカインを使用している模様を警察が発見、薬物所有の罪でお縄となった。
VII. 「投獄」お題つながりでもう一つ。ベイビーシャンブルズ（Babyshambles）のフロントマン、ピート・ドハーティ（Pete Doherty）が昨日釈放された。お騒がせUKロックスター達の「投獄」共通点に気付いた？
I. 80’s heartthrobs the New Kids on the Block, or NKOTB to those in the know, have announced a seven-date tour of the states and Canada for this September. Seriously. That was not a joke. Lucky for us, there don’ appear to be any plans for a Japan tour at present.
II. In much more interesting tour news, David Potts, Maybeshewill and Dreamboy are amongst the acts Japanese fans can expect in Tokyo this June and July. More info on all three can be found at www.ontheone.jp
III. In the spirit of Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails has announced that they’ll allow fans to download their new album, “The Slip”, for free on www.nin.com before the releasing a physical version this summer. Multiple tracks will also be available for download so fans can make their own remixes and share them at www.remix.nin.com.
IV. In the further spirit of free downloads, Coldplay announced that download’s of their new song, Violet Hill, which was available on the band’s website last week, exceeded two million downloads. Next up, a track called “A Spell a Rebel Yell” that will only be available in this weeks issue of NME.
V. Even Sir Paul McCartney is getting in the festive free-album giving mood. His new album Memory Almost Full will arrive with English newspaper The Mail on May 18th.
VI. Déjà vu—Amy Winehouse was arrested again; this time for suspected drug possession after police saw her smoking crack in a video shot in January.
VII. Continuing with the theme of incarceration, Babyshambles’ frontman Pete Doherty was released from jail yesterday. Anyone else notice a theme of troubled UK rock stars here?
